In my last post, I described a technique that helps you shoot more steadily by moving only a portion of your hand. But how can you be sure you’re doing it correctly? Competitive shooter, Robert Vogel, has the solution. Check out today’s post to see what he recommends.
Read MoreHave you ever held something out for a baby to grab? They wrap all fingers around the item and clench their little fist. It would look unnatural for a child pick something up with just two fingers because it’s a human tendency to curl all fingers simultaneously. This natural tendency can also affect the way we grip and shoot a gun. Check out today’s blog post to see how this negatively impacts accuracy and what you should be doing instead!

Read MoreI brought my firearm on a girls trip to Florida recently. While standing in line to check our luggage, my friend leaned closer and muttered under her breath, “Just don’t get us kicked out of this airport.” Check out today’s blog post for tips for flying with a firearm and how simple the process can be.
Read MoreWhen you travel with a firearm, it can take some planning to work out the logistics. My travels often include activities that don’t allow me to carry, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I leave the gun at home. I want to have a way to protect myself on the way there, especially if it’s a long drive, I’m staying overnight, and/or I don’t know the area well. As we know, logistics are important! I always ensure I have a secure and legal place for the gun when it’s not on my body. Check out today’s post, to see my favorite little portable safe, which makes planning easier.
Read MoreHello friends, I just released the latest blog post in the Concealed Carry Roadmap series and it’s all about storing your firearm.

Read MoreHello friends! Last week I shared the magazine article I wrote for Concealed Carry Magazine and I loved hearing from you! Thanks for all the messages and encouragement. This week we’re getting back to our Concealed Carry Roadmap series and today’s post covers a huge milestone on the journey… choosing a gun! I always thought choosing a firearm is like trying on a pair of jeans, there’s no such thing as “one size fits all". Because of that, I ALWAYS recommend trying several guns before making a purchase. To help you in your assessment, today’s blog includes 7 Things you should consider when trying a gun.

Read MoreI’ve recently been testing the G2C compact 9mm handgun, which Taurus graciously agreed to lend me after speaking with them at the SHOT show. I was attracted to the gun because of it’s compact size, magazine capacity, external safety, and general ergonomics. It also didn’t hurt that when I requested an evaluation gun the Taurus rep uttered the 5 words every woman loves to hear… “What color would you like?”
I must admit that when I discovered the retail price of the gun I was, at once, surprised and more than a little suspicious of the quality of a handgun that cheap. However, seeing is believing, and my instinct was that there is a lot of value in the G2C.

Read More“How much does this kick?”
This is the most common question I hear when I bring a new shooter to the range, and understandably so! Having an idea of what to expect is comforting, so you’re not surprised by the blast. Looking to provide a recoil resource for my readers, and also because I was curious, I decided to compare the recoil of several popular handguns to see how they differed.

Read MoreIs hand strength an important factor when choosing a firearm? Most shooters can take hand strength for granted; but for many people, simple operations like loading a magazine, pulling back a slide, or clearing a jammed bullet can become barriers to the safe and effective use of a pistol. The ability to operate your firearm every time without delay or failure is important, sometimes critically important.
For this post I decided to compare the slide tension of several popular handguns. Click the link below to see how they ranked!
Read MoreI’m a petite, shooter and prefer to carry micro compact handguns, so I’ve enjoyed watching gun makers compete to increase the magazine capacity in this firearm category.
Today I’m reviewing the Hellcat, Springfield’s newest micro 9 handgun. With it, they claim to have the world’s highest capacity 9 millimeter micro compact! Sig Saur was first to shatter the 6 bullet (+1 in the chamber) ceiling in the micro subcompact world with their P365 by providing a 10-round magazine plus one in the chamber. Now Springfield has one upped them with the Hellcat’s 11+1.
I’ve been anxious to see for myself what it’s like to carry and fire this handgun and I’m sharing all my thoughts with you on the blog!

Read MoreI’ve always appreciated the smell of gun powder. To me, it smells like freedom! It’s also nostalgic and brings back memories of my dad teaching me how to shoot pop cans with a little 22 rifle. Until recently, I never stopped to consider how those fumes can be toxic to our bodies. How can you protect yourself from breathing lead dust at the range? Check out today’s blog post to find out!
Read MoreIn 2016, I decided to purchase my first 9mm firearm. After doing lots of research and trying several guns, I narrowed down my options to the Glock 43 and the M&P Shield. I liked them both but in the end I chose the Shield because it felt comfortable in my hands and offered an external safety where the Glock did not. After four years and a lot more shooting experience, I’m taking a second look at the Glock 43 and have noticed some amazing things that I missed before. Click the link below for the full review!
