Hey friends, last week was special because I celebrated a birthday! Just the way I like it, my calendar was full of social events. It was refreshing to spend time with family and catch up with dear friends that I love. On Thursday and Friday I went to dinner with a few different groups. Then on Saturday, some friends and I puzzled our way out of a themed escape room, enjoyed some ice cream, and had a cookout!

Not only was it b-day week, but June 21st marked the Summer Solstice, which is the longest day of the year. With social gatherings and long, hot summer days on my mind, I decided to share some outfit inspiration this week for a summer night out.

Today’s look includes a few trendy pieces- a pair of drawstring shorts and a sweater tank top.

The shorts were the starting point for this outfit because they’re so comfortable! The breathable linen moves with you and keeps you cool. Since they’re loose, I contrasted the flowy shorts with a fitted tank top. I like how the outfit is relaxed but still has a put-together look. I think the sweater material of the tank helps achieve this by dressing the ensemble up a bit.

You’ll transition effortlessly from day to night by making just a few small changes to this look. You can wear sandals and nude lipstick during the day, then replace them with casual wedges and a pop of red lipstick for night.

As you can see, I went minimalistic with my jewelry. I chose the delicate gold hoop earrings to match the gold chain on my purse. A necklace would also be great for adding detail to this simple v-neck tank.

I would wear this for a downtown dinner, patio gathering, girls night out or an outdoor concert in the park. Bring your shades if there’s a chance you’ll be outside and facing the sunset.

Concealed Carry

One way to carry in drawstring shorts is to use a belly band. I’m using the Can Can Concealment Hip Hugger to carry my Ruger LCP. The band is tight enough (and the firearm small enough) to prevent printing, even with this more fitted top.
